A Lifelong Texan

Chris and Tara Younts

Chris and Tara Younts

On April 20, 1963 Chris was born to C.W. and Betty Younts in Temple, Texas.  His family moved to San Angelo when he was 5 years old and he has lived in the Concho Valley ever since. Chris has been married to his high school sweetheart, Tara, for 28 years and together they have raised two wonderful children, Matt and Mandy.

From very early on, Chris developed a love for the agriculture industry and resolved to be a part of it.  Throughout his life Chris has been involved with raising cattle in partnership with his father and grandfather, and from 1990 to 2003 Chris and his grandfather ran a pecan orchard on Copperas Creek in Comanche County Texas.

In January 1990 Chris joined the San Angelo Fire Department.  Much to his dismay, after suffering a broken leg in a ranching accident, he was forced to retire in October 2000.  While agriculture was always his first love, Chris believes he has had no greater honor than to serve his fellow citizens and relishes the experience of his fire fighting career as well as the many lifelong friendships he has developed as a result.

After his grandfather and business partner passed away in 2003, Chris and other interested family members decided to sell the cattle and pecan businesses and free Chris up to focus on the insurance agency purchased in partnership with his brother Craig.

As an Independent Agent providing for the needs of his fellow citizens of the Concho Valley, Chris has been afforded the unique opportunity to view the insurance industry from the inside.  This perspective allows Chris to understand fully the aspects of the insurance industry that are effective and have contributed to the overall prosperity of our nation.  Equally as important, he has gained well seasoned knowledge of those aspects which have proven ineffective and should be addressed.

After passage of the TARP bailout in Oct. 2008, concern about the direction our nation was taking prompted Chris to join with other concerned business owners in forming the San Angelo Tea Party.

Chris was active in YMCA youth and Little League programs when his son was younger and continues to support the YMCA.  Chris and Tara are members of the Grape Creek Baptist Church.  Chris believes each individual and our nation as a whole can only benefit from the preservation of God, and the guidance He has provided, in our society.

For Chris, it is the values of growing up in Texas and the importance of preserving these values for generations to come which have led him to ask for your support as he endeavors to give a true voice to the conservative people of the 11th District.
