We are being told that, once again, we face another cri­sis in Amer­ica. This time it is health care. Gov­ern­ment inter­ven­tion is por­trayed as the solu­tion to all our prob­lems if only we will pass this one more piece of leg­is­la­tion empow­er­ing more gov­ern­ment con­trol over our lives.

Last year we were told that a finan­cial apoc­a­lypse was upon us and if the tax­pay­ers would agree to a $700 bil­lion bailout of finan­cial insti­tu­tions, insur­ance com­pa­nies and Wall Street we could avert the impend­ing cat­a­stro­phe. The tax­pay­ers said no and, on Sept. 29, the House rep­re­sented us and voted no.
